Understanding IFRS for SMEs is a comprehensive and in-depth approach to unpacking the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for small, medium and micro enterprises (SMEs).

In an easy to understand manner, the book explains the conceptual as well as the detailed technical knowledge underpinning the requirements of IFRS for SMEs (supplemented by the same for IFRS where applicable). While the number of entities that can apply IFRS for SMEs form the majority of business entities in the market place, there is very little conceptual guidance on the application of IFRS for SMEs. About the editor:

Jade Jansen is an associate professor at the University of the Western Cape where he serves as the head of Financial Accounting. He is a Chartered Accountant (SA) with a master’s degree in accounting sciences from the University of Pretoria. He has been extensively involved with the training of various programmes, preparation of students for the examinations of and facilitating on CPD events for various professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA). He has trained accounting and its related subjects at all levels including to local and foreign government bodies, professional accounting bodies and audit and accounting firms. In addition, Jade has and currently serves on various committees and sub-committees of various professional accounting bodies such as those of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) and the Institute of Accounting and Commerce (IAC). Jade has also been a representative on the Western Cape Education Department’s (WCED’s) Accounting Provincial Subject Committee.
